ALAMOSA — Recently fired Adams State University Campus Police Chief Dr. Joel Shults said yesterday he might take legal action against ASU “if the university fails to deal with this issue in a transparent way.”

Shults believes he was let go as head of campus security for being a whistleblower, bringing to light unethical behavior by members of the university’s athletic department.

Shults, who served as ASU police chief for seven years, said yesterday he had no desire to seek monetary damages from the university but was concerned about one of the ASU female officers who felt forced to resign because of alleged harassment on the part of an ASU coach.
