Grouse surviving Poncha transplant

PONCHA PASS Gunnison sage grouse (GSG) are surviving on Poncha Pass.

Last month, 16 active GSG, 9 males and 7 females, were reportedly doing well, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) documents regarding the GSG Poncha Pass repopulation project in effect since last year to help fend off the looming endangered species listing. On June 11, however, a male GSG transmitter emitted a morality signal, and it is believe the carcass was lost to turkey vultures seen circling the area.
