ALAMOSA COUNTY — A search-and-rescue effort near Ellingwood Point in the Sangre de Cristo Range on Sunday ended positively for Denver-area climber Kevin Diviness, 49.
Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office activated the Alamosa County Search & Rescue team Sunday afternoon about noon after Diviness made a 9-1-1 call on his cell phone from the mountain. The climber was concerned about developing hypothermia, since the weather had changed since he began his ascent, and he was drenched from the rain. Diviness was alone and not prepared for such a drastic change in weather, Alamosa County Sheriff Lieutenant James McCloskey explained.
