ALAMOSA — Greenspot owner Ruthie Brown is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the burglar or burglars who visited her garden shop at 711 State Avenue on Sun., July 20.
The Greenspot was broken into between the hours of 6:30 p.m. on Sat., July 19 and 11:55 a.m. on Sun., July 20, according to Alamosa Police Department (APD) reports. Money was taken from the cash register and two bank deposit bags were removed from the premises.
The perpetrator(s) allegedly entered either through a door or a window Brown found open after the burglary, she said in an interview on Friday afternoon.
“I think drugs were involved,” Brown said. “Until we get the drugs like meth under control, the crime rate will continue to go up.”
She added, “It’s a hard job for the APD to do alone, so we need to get together as a community to stop this.”
Anyone with information about the Greenspot burglary is asked to call Crimestoppers, 589-4111, or Brown, 589-6362. Crimestoppers pays for information that leads to the arrest of criminal offenders. Citizens may report crimes anonymously and remain eligible for rewards.
