Coffman campaigns for state AG position

ALAMOSA — Cynthia Coffman may be new to politics but after eight years as Chief Deputy Colorado Attorney General, she is no stranger to the office for which she is campaigning.

Coffman is the Republican candidate for Colorado Attorney General, a position currently held by her boss John Suthers, who is term limited.

“There’s a lot of work to be done on behalf of the state,” she said during a stop in Alamosa on Wednesday. The 275-attorney office is responsible for handling a broad range of legal issues from consumer fraud to water issues. One of the newest areas of law for the AG’s office is marijuana, with a new contingent of attorneys devoted to marijuana-related issues.
