ALAMOSA COUNTY — Some Alamosa County Public Health (ACPH) clients suffering from mental health diseases are becoming a threat to nursing staff.
On Wednesday, Alamosa County Public Health Director Julie Geiser, who is retiring at the end of the month, told the Alamosa County Commissioners (ACC) during their regular meeting she was concerned about her nursing staffs’ safety after several clients showed signs of aggression.
“I’m not sure what to do about it,” Geiser said. “Some are taking their medications and staying stable, but other times we aren’t so sure.”
The doubt has Geiser sometimes sending two nurses out to meet with a client in case there is a threatening situation.
