ALAMOSA — Alamosa is actively seeking new businesses to plug up some of the gaps where money is currently leaking out of town.
For example, Alamosa City Manager Heather Brooks reported to the city council this week on contacts made with potential businesses during the 2014 ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) Global Retail Convention in Las Vegas last month. She and Randy Wright, executive director for the Alamosa County Economic Development Corporation and Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, had already set up an appointment with representatives from Ross during the convention. In addition to meeting with Ross representatives, they made connections with at least a dozen other businesses as well as municipalities and organizations that might be helpful in business recruitment, such as Chain Store Guide.
“Our face-to-face with Ross was very positive,” Brooks said. “They asked a lot of questions.”
