Los Pinos, New Mexico resident, Eleanor D. Romero, 96 passed away May 30, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Eleanor was born August 17, 1917 in Las Tusas New Mexico, the daughter of Gregorio Duran Sr. and Feliz Atencio. She married Gilbert Romero on September 5 1938. She was a house wife and mother. She enjoyed living and working on the farm in Los Pinos, New Mexico. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great and great-grandmother. She loved to socialize with her family, friends and missed the love of her life with the passing of her best friend and husband Gilbert Romero (Gil). She enjoyed cooking, baking, helping and working on the farm, politics, reading junk mail, being with her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
She is survived by Sisters Leona Gardunio & Emily Mathes of Colorado Springs, Lola (Angelo) Tursi, of New Jersey, Sally Sanchez, Amarillo Texas, Lorraine (Bob) Cummings, and 1 Brother Michael (Rose) Duran, sister-in-Law Josie Romero. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joeseph Casias, Susan (Terry) Smith, Nancy Duran, Joseph (Dino) Romero Jr., Joyce Romero, and eleven great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Romero, son Joseph L Romero Sr., Theresa (Terri) Casias one great-grand child Claire Casias.
Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:00 followed by a brief viewing and Mass of the Resurrection will be held at the San Juan Neponuceno Catholic Church in Ortiz, Colorado.
