ALAMOSA COUNTY — Changes to Alamosa County’s Land Use and Development Code for storage pods is an attempt to permit and regulate the structures that have actually always been illegal.
The Alamosa County Commissioners (ACC) approved a code text amendment last month now permitting tractor-trailers and storage pods in rurally zoned districts.
“Community members in Alamosa County that already have these tractor-trailers, storage pods or shipping containers on their property have technically always been in violation of county regulations in having them as permanent structures on their property,” said Alamosa County Deputy Land Use Administrator Rachel Doyle in an email, “and although rarely enforced, could have been required to remove these structures in all cases, regardless of lot size or zoning, before this amendment to the code.”
