ALAMOSA — Alamosa’s volunteer fire department ended one of their busiest Marches on record with a barn fire at the Salazar residence on Highway 17 Monday afternoon about 4 p.m.

The Monday fire just north of Alamosa had been preceded by three fire calls on Sunday and two on Saturday for the firefighters, according to Alamosa Fire Chief Don Chapman.

“March was one of our busiest Marches, even without brush fires. It was just a crazy month,” he said. “We had a couple of structure fires, several car accidents we had to respond to, a lot of small calls too.”
