City, county discuss courthouse move

City and county officials are concerned about congestion at the Alamosa County Courthouse and may consider building a new facility in the future.

ALAMOSA — In a preliminary conversation last week about preliminary plans for a new Alamosa County courthouse, elected officials dialed into the pros and cons of moving the building out of downtown.

A task force is assembled and looking into the possibilities for a new courthouse, said Alamosa County Commissioner Darius Allen. Several judges are a part of the group, and concerns about space in the Fourth Avenue building are mounting.
