COSTILLA COUNTY — Out of respect for the 2012 vote on Amendment 64, the Costilla County Commissioners intend to allow retail marijuana sales later this year.
“Amendment 64 passed in Costilla County by a fairly sizable percentage (60 percent), so the county commissioners feel that a ban on retail marijuana stores would not be consistent with the will of the voters,” wrote Costilla County Administrator Ben Doon in an email Monday morning. “The regulations still have to be finalized and then public hearings need to be held, so we are still looking at a few more months until retail grow and sales can be permitted.”
