ARCC wishes to thank all the wonderful local people who helped make the Antonito spay/neuter event of Jan 18-19 such a great success. Thanks to the positive community response we are already planning another event in the very near future. Both merchants and private individuals really jumped right in to help and we are so very grateful.
This would not have been possible without a proper location. Thanks to our very own Chief Duran giving us access to the Fire Station as a donation, we were able to provide surgical services to 118 animals, give many many vaccinations, and also transport 10 dogs and 7 cats out for adoption this time around.
County Commissioner John Sandoval really saw the need for what we’re trying to accomplish. He, Steve McCarroll and Mitchell Jarvies stepped up in a big way and approved funding for both accommodations and a meal for our providers. For this we are very grateful, as it shows our guests that we really appreciate their hard work.
Ed Sowards of Hometown Food Market donated and personally delivered a most excellent lunch on Saturday. Son Mark assisted, and also volunteered at the clinic later on.
Deanna Duran of The Dining Car Restaurant provided Saturday evening’s county funded dinner, and then also cooked a wonderful Sunday brunch for our hardworking team, free of charge.
Our out-of-towners stayed comfortably at The River’s Inn, pampered by April LaJune. Their donation in the form of a reduced rate enabled the county to pick up the rest of the tab.
Our community is really coming together, and the proof is our many helpers along the way: Mayor Mike Trujillo, Jose Gurule, Eugene Dupont and Jay Warner of the Antonito Town Board, Town Administrator Rossi Duran, Sgt Don Mendoza, Ed, Mark, Sandra, Aileen, Martha, Jeri, Geraldine, Moises, Lisa, JoAnna, Herman, Susan, Lisa, Olive, Demetrio, Marvin, Loyde, Joe, Robert Sr and Jr and last but far from least, Andy. Without your assistance this would not have been possible. Thank you all!
