ALAMOSA — Josef Lucero’s election as Alamosa’s new mayor generated a great deal of interest in his vacated at-large seat on the city council.
According to Alamosa City Clerk Judy Egbert, nine people applied for the vacancy created by Lucero’s election. However, one of the applicants who had submitted a letter of interest, Darrel Cooper, subsequently withdrew his application due to an injury.
At the city council’s request, Egbert accepted letters of interest through December 31 from those wishing to fill Lucero’s unexpired at-large term.
The remaining eight applicants are: Farris Bervig, Donna Wehe, Leland Romero, Ty Coleman, David Broyles, Robert Rael, David Mize and Marcia Tuggle.
