James Franklin Jarrell, II, age 60, died peacefully at home in Amalia, NM on December 23, 2013.
He was preceded in death by parents Melton Lymon Jarrell and Valley Lou Cheney Jarrell.
He is survived by his wife, Sheree Gipson Jarrell of Amalia, two sons, Kyle (Kristen) Jarrell of Dallas and Kevin (Rae) Jarrell of Smiths, Alabama, four granddaughters, Addington, Olivia, Rebekah, and Julia, and brothers Dan, Chip, and Byron Ashworth.
He was born in Dallas, Texas on April 6, 1953. He attended Dallas schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1972. He was employed by Jarrell Company Appliances and JJ Properties in Dallas. He and Sheree lived on Cedar Creek
Lake in Malakoff, Texas for many years.
In 2007 he and Sheree moved to Amalia where Jim retired to a busy and fulfilling life as a rancher and goat herder among the many chores that are required on a ranch. He was active in his community and was a member of the Amalia Ventero Fire Department, a volunteer activity he loved.
Jim was always willing and available to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. He didnít always wait to be asked for help. If he saw a need, he would take care of it.
In addition to family, Jim leaves behind many friends and neighbors. He was much loved and will be missed.
No services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. A memorial fund to benefit community people in need has been set up with the Amalia Neighborhood Association, P.O. Box 186 Amalia, NM 87512.
