Antonito resident, Salomon A. Garcia, 78, passed away December 26, 2013 at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado surrounded by his loving family. Salomon was born in San Antonio, Colorado on April 7, 1935 to Manuel Garcia and Cleotilde Cisneros-Garcia.
He served in the United States Air Force. He loved to ride horses in his younger days and worked all his life in construction. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, joking, and time spent with his loving family.
Survivors include daughters, Debbie (Stanley) Butterfield of Wesphalla, KS; Teresa Martinez of Antonito, CO; Cathy Lucero (Lupe Cervantez) of Alamosa, CO; and Lisa (Arthur) Bridges of Fairview Heights, IL; sons Mark (Kristie) Garcia of Killeen, TX; Ricky (Maria) Garcia of Caņon, CO; Jerret Garcia of Antonito, CO; and Jeremy (Billie Jean) Garcia of Chama, NM; sisters Ruby (Joe) Atencio of San Antonio, CO; Florence Sandoval of Colorado Springs, CO; Francis Gallegos of Denver, CO; and Cordy Howes of Seattle, WA; brothers Manuel (Pauline) Garcia of AZ; Michael Garcia of Denver, CO; and Richard (Lori) Garcia of San Antonio, CO. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Anthony Joseph Garcia, daughter Gloria Ann Garcia, sisters Ernestine Jaramillo, Frieda Morimoto, and Loretta Acevedo; and brother Rudy Garcia.
A Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Antonito. A second Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, CO. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, CO. Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Chapel in Antonito, who is in care of the arrangements.
