DEL NORTE — As of Tuesday, the boil water order remained in effect in Del Norte.
Residents will continue to consume only bottled water and water that has been boiled rapidly for a least three minutes before cooking, drinking, or any other use that would bring water into contact with the mouth until further notice. Care should be taken not to ingest water during bathing or showering.
The town residents are encouraged to reuse their water containers and bring them back each day to be filled at the Del Norte Fire Station, 870 Grand Ave.
The municipal water system is currently being flushed, and residents are being instructed to start flushing the water in their homes by doing the following:
Run tap water for 30 minutes.
Those who have a traditional hot water tank.
*Run hot water until the water becomes cold
*Turn off the hot water for about an hour, or until the water becomes warm again.
*Run the hot water a second time until it becomes cold.
Empty all ice trays and flush your refrigerator water lines that serve automatic ice and water dispensers.
To date, no illnesses have been reported that are consistent with water related disease.
