CENTER — Congressman Scott Tipton (R) visited the Center Consolidated School District (CCSD) on Tuesday to recognize CCSD Superintendent George Welsh on changing the face of the poorest school district in the state, and to encourage students to embrace the United States government.

Last month, the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE) named Welsh the Colorado Superintendent of the Year for his visionary leadership, which has transformed a low-performing school district into a model example of how resources, leadership and determination can make the difference in the lives of Colorado’s young scholars.

Tipton will recognize Welsh next week with a congressional tribute on the floor of the House of Representatives.
