CONEJOS — A heavily guarded Bradley Douglas Faux, 20, La Jara, made his first appearance in Conejos County Court on 14 charges in the case of Mason Anthony Rodriguez’ murder.

Rodriguez, 21, Alamosa, moved to the Valley from Denver eight years ago, and his charred remains were discovered in Conejos County on Mon., Sept. 30, according to reports.

After working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (DA), the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), with assistance from the Alamosa Police Department (ASD) and the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), arrested Faux in Alamosa at the San Luis Valley Federal Bank parking lot last Wednesday after he attempted to withdraw a large amount of money, according to reports. Faux is being held in the Conejos County Jail without bond.

Faux is charged on numerous counts, according to court documents. Charges include murder in the first degree, false imprisonment, tampering with physical evidence, corpse abuse, four crimes of violence, three counts of second degree kidnapping, three counts of menacing.

Between Sat., Sept. 28 and Sun., Sept. 29, Faux allegedly unlawfully, feloniously and, after deliberation, murdered Rodriguez, according to court documents, and also allegedly kidnapped Mariah Mondragon, 21, Alamosa; Aaron Clayton, 21, Alamosa, and Jacinda Perea-Gonzales, 19, Alamosa, using a deadly weapon believed to have been a handgun.

After allegedly taking Rodriguez’ life, Faux allegedly treated his remains in a way that would outrage normal family sensibilities, according to court documents. He also allegedly tampered with evidence at the scene of the crime.
