ALAMOSA — Before interviewing with the Alamosa County Commissioners (ACC) Thursday morning, the three county administrator candidates met with the public on Wednesday night at the Alamosa County offices.

The county administrator serves as the chief operating officer of the county and is responsible for all county departments, other than those of county elected officials. Working with the accounting department, the county administrator is responsible for developing the county budget, which includes implementing the policies and priorities of the ACC.

Alamosa County Commissioner Darius Allen said the county received more than 20 applications for the position.

The three candidates, Laurie Weber, Dale Hancock and Peter Kampfer, mingled with the crowd and took a few moments to introduce themselves to their potential new coworkers and, for two of the candidates, a new community.

Weber is the only local candidate, a fifth generation Colorado native, who moved to the Valley over 15 years ago after earning a degree in Business Management from the University of Alaska and owning and operating a commercial construction business in Oregon for 10 years. Since returning to the Valley to be nearer to family, she has worked in various administration positions for Trinidad State Junior College (TSJC), presently as the Community and Workforce Development Director.
