DENVER—The Alamosa High School gymnastics team finished third in the Class 4A Regional Tournament on Thursday night.
The Moose posted a team score of 1238.725 points. Thompson Valley won the meet with 176.025 points.
Alamosa’s top finisher in the bars event was Angel Cantu with a score of 5.65 points to finish 13th. Emily Novtony (5.3 points), Karina Rangel (5.0 points), Mariah Curtis (4.9 points), Devon Meyer (4.45 points) and Riley Crowther (3.65 points) also competed in the event.
Novtony led the Moose in the beam event as she finished seventh with 8.025 points. Kalin Doyle (6.85 points), Curtis (6.3 points), Savana Geringer (5.45 points) and Cantu (4.875 points) competed in the events.
Sage Malouff, who finished tenth in the floor exercise finished with a score of 8.1 points. Doyle (8.1 points), Aftynne Lujan (8.0 points), Geringer (7.95 points), Meyer (7.4 points) were the only other gymnasts to perform.
Lujan had a stellar day in the vault as she placed in fifth place. She posted a score of 8.5 points. Rangel (8.4 points), Erika Steenberg (8.2 points), Novotny (8.15 points) Geringer (8.05 points), Crowther (7.8 points) also competed in the event.
The gymnasts must now wait until all the other regional competitions are complete and the CHSAA have a meeting before the state qualifiers are announced on Monday.
