ALAMOSA — They built it, and now the people are coming.

The new Alamosa High School (AHS) stadium brought a wave of concern over the Alamosa Board of Education (ABOE) Monday night during their regular meeting when it was realized a few rules and regulations should be in place to keep the nearly $5 million, taxpayer funded facility undamaged and open to the public.

Alamosa School District (ASD) Superintendent Rob Alejo brought the matter to the table with the initial concern being a facility rental agreement. In this situation, he said, the users would desire access to more than the turf and track, wanting to access the facility’s buildings and the scoreboard. The agreement would also address insurance requirements, and could include a deposit to be returned if the facility remains intact after use.

“AHS is like any other facility in the district,” said Alejo, referring to the ASD standard facility use practices. “But this is a special place, and it warrants consideration of things like its surface.”
