LAMOSA — “Healthcare is one of those things where people just make things up,” Senator Larry Crowder (R) said during a public forum discussing the changes coming to Colorado as part of the Affordable Care Act.

Senator Irene Aguilar (D) added, “We are here to address your concerns and set some of the myths about Obamacare to rest.”

Aguilar, who serves as the chair of the Health and Human Services Committee in the Colorado State Senate, was joined by Senator Larry Crowder, Representative Ed Vigil, and State Insurance Commissioner Marguerite Salazar, in a panel formed to have open discussions and address concerns and questions raised by the public.

“Adams State is a place where we can come together and have open discussions on challenging issues,” ASU President David Svaldi said as he welcomed the panel and people who attended the Monday event.

The changes coming as the Affordable Care Act is implemented have created a lot of anxiety among people, Aguilar pointed out. “A lot of people say they don’t like Obamacare, but they don’t really understand what it’s about.”
