ALAMOSA — Mean Moose counselor Cory Notestine is the 2013 Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA) Secondary School Counselor of the Year.

On Monday night, the Alamosa Board of Education (ABOE) recognized his accomplishment, which Notestine will celebrate next month when he accepts his award at the Annual CSCA Conference Professional Recognition Dinner in Loveland.

“Thanks for bringing me into the district last year,” said Notestine, who was awarded similar honors in North Carolina before he and his wife moved to the Valley. “There is a great opportunity here and I have the support from the school... There is the freedom to run programs and we are providing services to the kids.”

CSCA awards school counselors and school counseling advocates for changing the lives of students through a comprehensive program that also improves the profession.
