Overflow of shower gifts arrives in Valley

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 16th, 2013

Littleton shop owner Cindy Edwards, pictured second from left, returned to Alamosa on Oct. 7 with another carload of baby gifts for the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). Her mother Gail Payne is to her left and Janice Myers of the WRC is to her right. On June 8, Edwards hosted a community wide baby shower in her store to honor Prince William and Duchess Kate, after asking SLV Health OB/Gyn Dr. Jacqueline Garrard where the collected gifts could be donated. Upon her recommendation, several carloads and one small airplane full of gifts were later distributed to the WRC and Nurse-Family Partnership in Alamosa; this included gifts collected at another royal baby shower hosted by SLV Health Regional Medical Center on June 12. Edwards said that when she returned to her Denver-area shop, more people kept dropping off gifts so this month she and her mother made another trip to Alamosa. WRC Director Cheri Crowder, standing next to SLV Health Marketing Director Kathy Rogers on the far right, said, “This helps by having all these wonderful items available for those who continue to participate in our Earn While You Learn parenting program.”
