La Jara resident Stella Matilda Quintana, 83, passed away October 2, 2013 in Pueblo, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family.
Stella was born on April 1, 1930, in Capulin, Colorado, the daughter of Felipe and Rosanna Quintana. Stella was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who enjoyed going to the casino, reading her bible, driving and sight-seeing, and especially spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Geraldine Valdez of Denver, CO; Arthur Valdez of Denver, CO; Phillip (Debbie) Valdez of Denver, CO; Yvonne (Albert) Lazalde of Denver, CO; Wilbur Coombs of Rowlett, TX; and Michael (Roberta) Gutierrez of Rowlett, TX; sisters, Ramona Ortiz of La Jara, CO; Eloisa Chavez of Concord, CA; and brother Benito Quintana of Arizona. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Rosanna Quintana; one grandson Nathan Frederick; four brothers, Steve Quintana, Robert Trujillo, Ned Quintana, and Ezekiel Quintana; and two sisters, Priscilla Medina and Mary Trujillo.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Capulin. Inurnment will follow at the Capulin Cemetery in Capulin. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, Colorado. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
