ALAMOSA — A two-vehicle accident Sunday morning resulted in the death of Blanca resident John Bregg, 58.
According to Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded to a two vehicle head-on collision on Colorado 160, 10 miles east of Alamosa, just before 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Investigation revealed Bregg was westbound on Colorado 160, driving a 1991 Ford Explorer. Carl Lane, 66, of Byers, was eastbound on Colorado 160, driving a 1996 Dodge pickup, pulling a trailer. Lane’s vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Explorer.
Bregg and Lane were both transported to San Luis Valley Health in Alamosa where Bregg succumbed to his injuries. Lane was transferred flight for life to St. Anthony’s hospital in Denver.
Bregg was wearing a seatbelt and Lane was not. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as contributing to the crash.
Investigation into the crash continues.
