ALAMOSA — With only one dissenting vote, the Alamosa city council Wednesday night voted to revoke the liquor license for Spuddy’s Cantina.
Last week the council held a lengthy show cause hearing regarding alleged liquor license violations at the State Avenue bar. After determining the business had committed violations, the council decided to wait until this week to impose punishment.
Councilor Marcia Tuggle said in similar circumstances with other liquor license violations in town, the council has sometimes imposed penalties rather than revoking the license, but the council has also revoked licenses under similar circumstances, so the council had a choice in what penalty to impose. She pointed out that even if the council imposed a 30-day liquor license suspension on the business, which was one of the punitive options available, it would essentially put them out of business.
