ALAMOSA — Hot, smoky barbecue, ice cold beer, fresh roasted green chilies, live music and plenty of food and entertainment for the whole family are all part of the San Luis Valley’s first Beat the Heat BBQ Brews and Chili Competition this weekend.
There’s no place better to spend a day on earth than the San Luis Valley in September. Help kick off this Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned and Rocky Mountain Barbecue Association State Championship event.
The SLV Beat the Heat BBQ Brews and Chili Competition will have barbecue for eatin’, Coors and micro brew beer and roasters going to help folks stock up on fresh green chilies.
Live music runs all day Saturday and there will be booths with food and other activities, even a climbing wall.
This Saturday, Sept. 7, the event will take place at Cole Park in Alamosa from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be KCBS registered cookers from all over the US coming to Alamosa competing for a $10,000 prize. Folks have watched them on T.V. Now come meet them in person.
