I never cease to be amazed at what will send the talking heads into dramatic agony.
So Miley Cyrus “twerked” on an MTV production. As someone whose sons once begged to watch MTV for the “music videos,” I’m not surprised.
This is not the first time a former teen star did something outrageous before the cameras and I feel safe in saying it won’t be the last.
For some, the youthful fame is key to a long career because that acclaim was relatively short, but Miley was Hannah Montana for so long that many people can accept her as no one else.
The list of child stars is long and so is the list of their sins.
However, there is no bad publicity if it brings real name recognition. Today’s “entertainment media” is great for this.
I’m thinking about the group of manufactured heart throbs that came along after Elvis went into the Army. Each had to break away from those images, but the media just shrugged. They just weren’t that important. Elvis’ gyrations were, and the public waited for them to return.
