MONTE VISTA—Everything was perfect for the Monte Vista Pirates on Friday night at Sullivan Field. The offense exploited the defensive holes of the Lake County Panthers while the defense flexed their muscles and held them in their backfield and nabbed a 47-8 mercy rule win.

The Pirate coaching staff, which is led by legendary coach Manny Wasinger, used the contest to tune their players for upcoming matches as the No. 6 ranked team made huge plays to put the game into a running clock, mercy-rule contest in less than 14 minutes.

The game started with a couple of surprises as a motion filled defense started the Lake County offense on several occasions. Before the first two snaps from the line of scrimmage, the Panthers found themselves battling a 1 st-and-20 as two false start penalties moved them back. They would end the first half of the game with eight false start penalties and a loss of 65 yards.

When they finally did get some offense plays off, they ended the drive four yards back from where they started and were forced to punt the ball.
