MONTE VISTA —Colorado Department of Transportation contractor Concrete Works of Colorado, Inc., resumed work on Wednesday on concrete reconstruction.
Concrete had been installed in the eastbound driving lanes from Batterson east to Broadway (US 285). Starting Thursday at 5 a.m., crews were to begin installation of concrete from US 285 to just east of Jefferson Street. This is expected to take a week or two, weather pending.
After work in the eastbound driving lanes is complete crews will then begin removing and replacing the entire eastbound length of the concrete section with new curb and gutter (including electrical work).
The project is currently ahead of schedule.
All traffic is currently switched to the westbound lanes of US 160 between Broadway and Jefferson avenues, and both eastbound lanes remain closed 24/7 as crews remove and replace the existing roadway on the eastbound side, as well as all curb and gutter. Access to businesses and sidewalks will be maintained but may be temporarily altered. No parking will be available in the three-block stretch from Batterson to Jefferson on US 160.
