Former San Luis Valley resident, Ernestina Bersabe Segura-Johnson, 88, passed away June 24, 2013 at the Atria Assisted Living Center in Longmont, Colorado surrounded by her loving family. Ernestina was born on May 4, 1925 in San Acacio, Colorado the daughter of Celestino Segura and Juanita Dolores Trujillo Segura. Ernestina was a wonderful aunt who practiced as a Eucharistic minister for Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. She was also known to be a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed oil painting, caring for the elderly, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and her caregivers, Marie Henrietta (Joseph) Castro of Erie, CO and Carmen (Joe) Vigil of Salida, CO and other caring family members.
Ernestina was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson, her parents, and siblings: Pedro, Frank, Belarmino, Castulo, Miguel, Maria, Natividad, Josephine, and Vicente.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:30 AM also at the Sangre De Cristo Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at the Old San Luis Cemetery in San Luis. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
