Alamosa resident Sandra Lynn Fitzgerald, 51 passed away on June 18, 2013 at Denver Health Center where she was receiving care following an accident.
Sandy was born July 1, 1961 in Monte Vista, Colorado to James Duane Olson and Charlie (Olson) Walker. Sandy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Colorado State University –Pueblo, and Adams State University. Sandy owned SLV Family and Addictions Counseling and was passionate about helping her clients.
Sandy was a wonderful daughter, sister and mother. She enjoyed working in the garden, taking her mother shopping, and most of all she loved spending time with her son, Dante. Sandy was always up for family game night. She cherished time spent with family and friends. Sandy was full of life and had a great sense of humor even in her final hours. There was never a dull moment with Sandy.
Sandra is survived by her loving son Dante Fitzgerald, her mother Charlie Walker, sisters Lori (Aaron) Laske, of Alamosa, and Shawna Walker (and fiancé Stephen Martinelli) of Colorado Springs, nieces Brittany & Jordan Laske, nephew Sam Laske of Alamosa, and her fiancé Kelly Sipple, San Acacio. She was preceded in death by her father James Olson at the age of four and her wonderful step-father Samuel Walker.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 28th, 10:00 am, at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 510 State Street in Alamosa, Colorado. Sandy’s favorite color was purple so friends and family are welcome to wear purple for her celebration.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Dante Fitzgerald Fund at San Luis Valley Federal Bank.
