MONTE VISTA — A bomb threat was called into a Monte Vista clinic on Thursday leading to a police investigation.
Dr. Ricardo Velasquez, chief medical officer for Valley-Wide Health Systems Inc., confirmed that the Edward M. Kennedy Health Clinic was closed on Thursday due to the threat.
Law enforcement was quickly called in to handle the threat. Velasquez said they were advised a bomb would go off at 9:30 in the morning. Law enforcement personnel entered the building after 9:30 and did not find a bomb and they determined that it was not necessary to bring in a bomb squad.
The clinic will reopen on Friday as long as there are no further incidences. Staff members were available to patients at alternate locations. Velasquez assures patients that Valley-Wide worked to ensure that there were options for their patients to receive care despite the threat.
