Posted: Wednesday, Apr 24th, 2013

The Center Vikings made easy work of the Monte Vista Pirates on Tuesday afternoon as they got an 11-1 run-rule victory at Adams State University's Baseball Field in Alamosa. Monte Vista pitcher Brandon Cordova (22) was charged with the loss. Center junior utility player, Jacob Mortensen (6) beat out a close play at first base. The Vikings out hit the Pirates 13-2. Center pitcher Jose Luis Macias got the win for the Pirates as he was efficient on the mound by making just 50 pitches in the contest including five in the first and four in the fourth inning. He gave up just two hits, one walk and one hit by pitch. He did get three strikeouts.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday when they travel to Antonito for a doubleheader. Monte Vista is off until Tuesday where they host La Junta.
