RIO GRANDE COUNTY— The Rio Grande Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that it is investigating the April 14 death of a young Monte Vista man, but it has no additional information to offer right now.
At this point, Sheriff Brian Norton said his department is simply waiting for the autopsy results on 25-year-old Nathaniel Bueno to come in.
“I’m not going to say that there’s any suspicious circumstances or anything,” Norton said in a brief voicemail message to the Valley Courier.
Monte Vista Police Chief Jim Grayson said in an earlier email message that Bueno’s death occurred beyond his jurisdiction in unincorporated Rio Grande County.
Bueno, who worked as a transportation manager at Mountain King Potato Company since 2006, was described as a kind a loving person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He is survived by numerous family members, including a young daughter.
