Stella Antoinette Reilly was born June 13, 1917 to Charles & Tekla (Tillie) Nosalik in Chicago, Illinois. She married James H. Reilly on September 30, 1936. Their daughter Patricia Antoinette Reilly was born July 16, 1942.
They moved to Monte Vista in 1946. She & her husband had a saddle and leather shop. She worked for the Bureau of Land Management for 3 years before she started her job as Court Reporter in Alamosa Court. She worked for a half a dozen judges, including the late or retired George Blickhan, Whitford Myers, Richard E. Conour, Donald G. Smith, Robert Ogburn. She retired after 25 years of loyal service.
Stella was the organist at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte for several years. She also played the piano & guitar. She was a master leather worker, having learned from her husband, and also enjoyed gardening, horse training, swimming, needlepoint, weaving, crocheting and embroidery. She donated a lot of her time to Blue Peaks Development Center, where her daughter Patsy went to work. She was also active with the South Fork singing group “Sister of the Skillet”, and was best known in South Fork for her delicious pies. Stella was a devoted mother, taking care of her special needs daughter for a lot of years as a single mom after her husband’s death in 1962.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in the war, her sister, and her husband, Jim.
The only family member to survive her is her daughter Patsy. She also left behind many close friends that will dearly miss her.
There will be a rosary service for Stella on Monday, April 8th, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte CO. A mass will be held Tuesday April 9th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte CO.
