Monte Vista resident Joe J. Lobato, 90, passed away March 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on August 27, 1922 in Seven Mile Plaza the son of Robert Lobato and Rosalba Lopez Lobato. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Chavez on July 15, 1943. They Celebrated 70 wonderful years as husband and wife. Joe was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who was an avid sports fan, and yes he would even watch golf on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his family and neighbors. He had a special relationship with god, seldom would he miss mass. Joe enjoyed doing yard work and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Lobato of Monte Vista, CO; daughters Grace Minx, Neomi (Dave) Salazar both of Denver, CO; Linda Roybal, Gladys (Willie) Sisneros both of Monte Vista, CO; Jean (Cliff) Chacon of Albuquerque, NM; Marvene Lobato of Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sisters Eleanor (Ben) Martinez of Monte Vista, CO; Olivia Aguilar of Phoenix, AZ; Josie (Dante) Ciardella of Sacramento, CA; one brother Victor Lobato of Sacramento, CA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Rosalba Lobato, sons Bobby and Joe Lobato Jr., brother Julian Lobato, sisters Margaret Lobato, Neomi Lobato and one granddaughter Anna Marie Salazar.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the St., Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery. The care of the arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
