ALAMOSA — An area man is in custody and his victim in a Denver-area hospital following a Sunday shooting on Craft Drive in Alamosa.
Patrick Gurule, 26, faces attempted first degree murder and other charges following the shooting on Sunday of a 22-year-old female victim inside a vehicle in the 100-200 blocks of Craft Drive, according to Alamosa Police Department Captain Robert Jackson.
Jackson said the shooting is believed to have occurred inside a moving vehicle in which Gurule was the passenger and the victim was the driver.
The police department became involved on March 24 when officers responded to the SLV Regional Medical Center for a report of a gunshot victim.
Responding officers and detectives determined that a 22-year-old female victim had been shot with an unknown firearm.
The injuries were determined to be life threatening, and the victim was flown to a Denver area hospital.
According to a release by Captain Jackson on Monday, Gurule was located at a house in Conejos County and arrested by Conejos County Sheriff’s Deputies and troopers from the Colorado State Patrol.
He was charged with: Attempted First Degree Murder (a class 2 Felony); Child Abuse (M2); Reckless Endangerment (two counts) (M3); 1st Degree Kidnapping (a class 1 Felony); Menacing (two counts); (F5), Domestic Violence; Tampering with Evidence (F6) and Assault in the 1st Degree (F3).
He is being held at the Alamosa County Jail without bond.
