CREEDE — Bring family and friends to celebrate the season opening of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and experience the best of locally sourced food from the San Luis Valley at the 38th annual Opening Night Dinner.
Hostead by the Friends of CRT at the Creede Community Center, this year’s dinner is sponsored in part by the 4UR Ranch and valley producer, Farm Fresh Direct. Following dinner, enjoy the opening of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” This classic takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the time-tested comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. In exchange for his freedom, Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful courtesan for his young master, Hero. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity and slamming doors – culminating in musical theatre’s funniest farce.
The event is May 31 at 5 p.m. at Creede Community Center.
