2013 Adventurally Series to include Alamosa

Posted: Wednesday, Mar 13th, 2013

ALAMOSA — Alamosa has been selected as an official destination for the 2013 FIREBALL RUN Adventurally and its Race to Recover America’s Missing Children. Producers became aware of Alamosa after receiving an invitation to visit from Visitors Bureau Director Jamie Greeman.

FIREBALL RUN is the Most Epic Adventurally in America® a gripping and emotional 8 day, 2500 mile, life-sized trivia game, where America serves the game board; 40 driving teams compete for glory, bragging rights, and a plastic road sign. All while aiding in a massive effort to recover America’s missing children.

To move about the country and score, teams solve clues and accomplish tasks based on host destination; points-of-interest, history, and culture. All Stars & Movie Cars is the 2013 theme; notable participants include Astronaut Jon McBride; Lamborghini Legend Valentino Balboni; Ray McClelland host of SpeedChannel show Car Warriors, and Rock Hall of Fame President Terry Stewart.

Streamed live to a world-audience and filmed as part of an online TV series, the 2012 FIREBALL RUN elicited a whopping $44 million in media exposure for host destinations. Alamosa, Colorado is one of only 8 destinations selected annually.

Although a trivia game there is nothing trivial about FIREBALL RUN’s message or results. Often referred to as “the most fun you will ever have, doing the most important thing you’ve ever done.” Every team is assigned a missing child from their hometown region and tasked with distributing posters along the route; the awareness campaign has aided in 38 child recoveries since 2007.

Alamosa was selected due in part to its hometown charm and economic growth potential.

“The participants are also noteworthy business leaders and Alamosa caught my attention.” said Matthew Morak, FIREBALL RUN’s Community Affairs Liaison. “Alamosa is a growing hub for travelers and developers are taking notice.” said Greeman.”

“Matt Abbey, offering to host teams on Rio Grande Scenic Railway dining cars, sealed the deal as an epic experience,” continued J. Sanchez, FIREBALL RUN executive producer. Dining on railcars will be a first for the series.

The Adventurally begins September 20 in Longmont and finishes September 28 in Riverside, California. The public is encouraged to meet celebrity teams and check out vehicles as they arrive to Alamosa Sept 22nd; exact location sites and schedule is still being determined.
