Identity theft is getting almost out or control.
To protect your identity, be sure to keep all of your important papers secure. Lock up your financial document and records in a safe place.
Keep information secure from workers in your home. Limit what you carry when you go out. Take only one ID card and one credit card. Leave your Social Security Card at home. Make a copy of your medicare card and black out all but the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
Shred receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms hospital bills, checks and bank statements, expired credit cards and all other documents when you no longer need them.
Destroy the labels on prescription bottles before you throw them out. Do not share your health plan information with anyone who offers free health services or products.
Promptly remove mail that arrives in your outside mailbox.
When you leave on vacation be sure to put your mail on hold. When you order new checks do not have them sent to your home. I will have more information on this next week.
Tomorrow the 14th will be a busy day at the senior center. Antonito will be here for the pool tournament. At 10:30 the county nurse will be here to take blood pressures. Tomorrow evening at 5:30 we will have our monthly potluck.
Friday the 15th we will have crazy bingo at 1 p.m.
Sunday the 17th is St Patrick’s Day.
Quote of the week: It is no longer a question of if your identity will be stolen – The only unknown is when it will happen.
See you next week
