San Francisco resident Rupert L. Martinez, 87, passed away February 9, 2013 at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, with his loving family by his side. Rupert was born April 17, 1925, in San Francisco, Colorado, the son of Francisco and Isabel Martinez.
Rupert was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, he worked many years for the Colorado Aggragate, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting in his wonderful mountains and spending time with his loving family. Survivors include four daughters: Alice (Nick) Aguilar of Colorado Springs, CO; Elaine Martinez of Amarillo, TX: Maryanne Martinez of San Francisco, CO; Caroline (Gustavo)Morales of Amarillo, TX; six sons: Leo Martinez of Pueblo, CO; Dave Martinez, Jesse Martinez, and Victor Martinez all of San Francisco, CO; Harry (Jackie) Martinez of Commerce City, CO; Alan (Debbie) Martinez of Trinidad, CO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren: two sisters Beatrice Vigil of San Francisco, CO; Louise Martinez of Pueblo, CO; two brothers: Johnny Martinez of Homelake. CO; Cruz (Lucy) Martinez of San Francisco, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Rupert was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Isabel, his wife Marie, three sons Rocky I, Danny and Rocky II Martinez; Three sisters Bridgette O’Keefe; Abrelia Quintana and Rebecca Martinez; two brothers Ben Martinez and Max Martinez.
A Vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the San Francisco Catholic Church in San Francisco. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, also at the San Francisco Catholic Church in San Francisco. Interment will follow at the San Francisco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Romero Chapel in San Luis. Arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Chapel in San Luis.
