Letter to the Editor: Re: First Liberty drillers say ‘fracking’ not part of plan

After reading this article and doing a bit of research, I have to form a “NO” opinion based on the information available. All the “if’s, shouldn’t and might not’s”, do not mean it is not possible for fracking in the future. Until that is set in stone, the permit should be denied.

I honestly think the valley should go in another direction to boost the economy, to find ways to develop more water and expand the one livelihood of the San Luis valley since its founding, agriculture. This is the only product that is sustainable and will not corrupt our natural resources and turn into another superfund for toxic removal.

County commissioners of the Valley should dig deeper for solutions, solutions with better guarantees.
