Valley Community Fund introduces new staff

Posted: Tuesday, Feb 5th, 2013

Valley Community Fund representatives are from left Mary Russell, Grace Young, Victoria Brunner, Jan Oen and Don Thompson.

VALLEY — The Board of Valley Community Fund is pleased to announce the addition of Victoria Brunner as coordinator of payroll giving activities.

Victoria brings over a decade of experience in the social venture business and non profit sectors to VCF. Victoria received degrees in political science and biology and after graduation moved to Mexico to develop waste water wetlands.

Upon her return to the United States, she pursued an MBA in sustainable business and while doing so, gained experience in “green” economy. Victoria has worked in various capacities in this sector — mostly with alternative technologies such as renewable energy, waste water systems, and social venture marketing. She has also participated in traditional non profit causes — serving time on boards, interning, volunteering, or campaigning.

One of Victoria’s passions is working to construct more robust local economies, since up to 60 percent of a dollar spent on local businesses or non profits gets re-circulated in the community (compared to 14 percent for bigger organizations). Victoria moved to the Blanca area along with her husband and two daughters to start a small farm. So far, they have welcomed two dogs, two goats and 28 chickens into their family. They have also discovered the added benefit of “finding a community of people to connect to” in the San Luis Valley.

Valley Community Fund (VCF) is a coalition of members working cooperatively to raise funds, coordinate activities and enhance member efforts to improve the lives of people in the SLV.

To learn more about how organizations or businesses can support the non profit community through payroll giving, call Victoria at 589-5688 or email info.valleycommunityfund@gmail.com
