Visiting the past

ALAMOSA Sierra Grande Elementary students visited the San Luis Valley Museum in Alamosa on Thursday afternoon. Museum staff and volunteers walked the second and fifth grade students through the museum, teaching them about the Valley's history and about the various artifacts the museum holds. They learned about Ute Indians, butterflies and moths, farming, ranching and old tools like a handheld French fry cutting machine.These fifth graders found a drawer with old hats they couldn't help but try on.
