Letter to the Editor MacCracken hit the nail on the head about Second Amendment

I just wanted to say what an awesome letter Mr. Avery MacCracken of Alamosa wrote on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Thank you Mr. MacCracken for your letter! As a gun owner, hunter and avid 2nd Amendment supporter, I feel like he truly “hit the nail on the head” when it comes to our Second Amendment rights. I think a lot of us out here in America feel the same. Quite frankly there are more of us that support the Second Amendment and have guns than either the anti-gun activitists or the government cares to acknowledge.

But I do want to add one thing: It is also our responsibility as citizens of the United States to help our government do what is right. We cannot sit idly by and hope that our government leaders do the right thing. We can do this of course by voting but we can also do it by letting our governors, state and U.S. representatives and senators know how we feel about issues such as this. Their telephone numbers and email addresses are always handily posted right next to this very column for our convenience.

To help America we must all do our part.
