SANFORD — Longtime Sanford resident Ramona Reed Martin, 84, died January 27, 2013 at her home in Sanford under Hospice care.
Ramona was born July 21, 1928 in Alamosa the first daughter to Orin White and Nellie Dee Christensen Reed.
She married and was sealed for all time and eternity to her husband of more than 59 years, Clarence Leroy Martin, on August 12, 1947 at the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Ramona was a homemaker. Being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served many different callings throughout the church. She loved genealogy and worked at this for most of her adult life. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and quilting.
Ramona spent much of her time gardening in her younger years and took great pride in keeping her yard in great shape.
She is survived by her children Lynette (Kelly) Schofield of North Richland Hills, TX, Christine (Dan) Coombs of La Jara, Dwight (Ramona Kaye) Martin of La Jara, Aleece (Randy) Paulson of Monte Vista, Maxine Baker of Alamosa and Pamela (Leonard) Van Ausdal of Herriman, UT; her son-in-law Derek Woodman of Dillon, CO; her brother Warren (Kathleen) Reed of Sanford; as well as 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Mona Woodman, and three grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Relief Society Room at the Sanford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Funeral Service will follow Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
