MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista resident Armando P. “ Heater” Jiron, 89, passed away January 19, 2013 at the Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver surrounded by his loving family.
Armando was born on May 11, 1923 in Antonito, Colorado, the son of Juan Manuel Jiron and Rosabelle Casias Jiron.
Armando retired from the agriculture industry, he enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, watching baseball, playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters Jennie (Ernest) Samora, Karen (Charles) Martinez, Jeannie (Eugene) Atencio and Darlene Padilla all of Monte Vista, CO; Christina (Arthur) Medina of Montrose, CO; sons Leroy (Joan) Jiron, Filimon (Adelia) Jiron, Henry (Bernice) Jiron, Rodney Jiron and Kenny Jiron all of Monte Vista, CO; 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, one brother Ernest (Esther) Jiron of Lafayette, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Armando was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fannie “Estephanita” Jiron, one son Frank Jiron, four grandsons, two Sisters Maggie Garcia and Juanita Jiron, two brothers, Narciso Jiron and Alfredo Jiron.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM also at St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow at the Monte Vista Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday form 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista who is in care of the arrangements.
